Getting started – Keeper

Keeper is the company password manager. It stores all passwords encrypted, fills them in automatically when you sign in and allows secure sharing within the team. Requirement: the Keeper invitation has arrived by email.

1. Set up your account

  1. In the invitation email from Keeper, click the link to join.

  2. Sign in with your company email address. Depending on the setup, sign-in uses your Microsoft or Google company account directly.

  3. If a master password is required: choose a long, unique password that you don't use anywhere else. it-tects cannot read it.

  4. Set up or confirm the offered multi-factor authentication.

  3. Click the Keeper icon and sign in.

On devices managed by it-tects, the extension may already be installed.

4. Import your passwords

  1. In the Keeper web vault or desktop app, open the import function (under Settings or in the account menu).

  2. Choose your previous browser or password manager and follow the instructions.

  3. Then delete the passwords saved in your browser and turn off password saving in the browser, so only Keeper is used.

5. Everyday use

  • Signing in to websites: Keeper suggests the matching record in the sign-in field.

  • Creating a new account: Keeper generates a secure password and offers to save it.

  • Sharing: share records via Keeper's sharing feature, never by email or chat. For people without Keeper, use “Share and receive passwords securely – Password Pusher”.
